The "o" litter pictures

Here are pictures of the pups as they grow and things they accomplish

I have left some pictures up to remember the pups  when they were small.
I hope the new owners get me some pictures of their training, therapy, agility pictures soon.

I opened up the door to the outside, and the six week old pups  are all curious.

Most of the pups came out to say hello this morning.
They are growing so fast.  And I try to give them a new
experience every day. They are learning very fast also.

I have three pups from the carley/spirit  litter.  They were all sold and I got sick (cold & flu ) and  couldn't make it to the airport for their reserved flight. The prospective new owners were concerned and I sent their money back, so in spite of my attempts to not increase the herd - - I have some very nice pups to show this spring.  I have to brag a little.  They move pretty nice too.

The pups all put their head into the choke chain  while getting ready to go someplace. They lead out in front of me  and head right for the truck. Their head is up and their tail is wagging, they think "going" is fun.

Exercise and HD

Four month old male pup leading, but two females a split second behind him.

My camera will take 9 pictures about a second apart. All I have to do is keep the camera on the subject.  That is harder then it sounds.   The pups play, run and jump. They get plenty of exercise, sun and fresh air.  This is all necessary to build strong bones and a healthy pup. If the pups can't run and jump without getting hurt, maybe there is something wrong or weak in their make-up.

Just off the subject a wee bit - - when Gladys and I started obedience classes, we had over 80  in the class.  20 of us completed our CD.  When we started the open classes  many of the dogs were injured when we started the jumping classes. Only 8 of us went on and completed the UD title.  Now I know other factors enter into the dropout rate, but still there were injuries. It is my opinion that if the dog has the correct front shoulder, they should not be injured by jumping if they are conditioned  and started out slowly.

As the pups grow, they have an "UGLY" stage.  Some of the experts   on these different stages say to evaluate the pup at 7 weeks and then don't look at him till he is a year old.  The "uglies" can cause some people hypertension and/or ulcers and certainly arouse all sorts of worries.  But, even when you know this will happen,  it will cause worries, nightmares, elevated stress, etc.  Well, we have entered the "UGLIES".

Jonathan posing with Orion ( 4 1/2 months old)  and he has ears at half mast, they are up one day and down the next,  and his hind legs seem to be growing very fast so that he is running "downhill" all the time.   Oh this is the uglies.

And Occhiali has an ear that is curling backwards !  eek.  will she straighten out or should i tape it?

Its a better day today.  Do you suppose Orions ears will ever go up?  He is still losing teeth, so i think i will wait   with the ear taping.

The pups eat  old dead grass. They pull it up and eat roots, dirt and all. And look at the trunk of the tree. They are cleaning the bark off the tree, and now Orion is starting on the branches.   I like to see them put weight on those hips. I assume they aren't hurting when they will do that.  Yep, its a good day.

HONEYHILLS ORION

Orion acts so much like his father, it is really a mirror image.      He went to the vet yesterday along with his sisters and got the first rabies shot.  And a quick check up.  He weighs 53 pounds at 5  1/2 months.  He went to obedience training for his first class and played peacable with all the other  puppies, and did   sit and stay for 10 seconds. Its a beginning.

Orion , at 8 months old, has completed the first obedience class and passed theAKC's  CGC test. So now has the title, Canine Good Citizen, after his name.   He is growing into a very nice looking dog. Orion lives on a farm with other dogs, cats, kids, livestock, and horses. He is regtistered in AKC and UKC.
